Mittwoch und Donnerstag waren nicht so krass, deswegen überspringen wir die einfach mal 🙂
Heute morgen sind wir schon um halb 6 aufgestanden, weil wir um halb 7 abgeholt wurden. Da Maria und ich natürlich am Abend nichts gepackt haben, mussten wir dann alles schnell schnell am Morgen nachholen, aber unser Timing war perfekt :).
Dann sind wir erst Mal ewig Auto gefahren und haben ein paar Mal angehalten. In einer Pipipause waren wir in einem Souvenirshop. Der Verkäufer war lustigerweise ein Deutscher aus München, der vor 20 Jahren nach Südafrika ausgewandert ist. Er hat mir und Maria dann einen kleinen Exkurs über seine Felle gegeben.
Zum einen hatte er Felle einer bestimmten Kuhart (Nguni, wenn ich richtig recherchiert habe), die hier einfach ein Nutztier von unteranderem den Zulu sind. Das besondere an der Kuhrasse ist, dass beide Seiten komplett symmetrisch ist. Das sieht auf so einem Fell schon ziemlich cool aus. Die haben bei ihm so um die 250€ gekostet.
Außerdem hatte er Zebrafelle. Die kommen auch von umliegenden Farmen. Zebras werden hier auch einfach gehalten und gegessen, aber eher von den Einheimischen. Die Felle werden dann verkauft, bei ihm für 400€.
Er hat erzählt, dass man die Felle auch oft auf der Straße kaufen kann, wo sie dann noch auf traditionelle Art gegerbt werde, also mit Ammoniak aka Urin. Dementsprechend riechen sie dann. Bei ihm hingegem, werden sie nach europäischem Standard gegerbt, sodass sie nicht so stinken. Ich glaube ich muss mal an so einem Fell riechen, dass traditionell gegerbt wurde, nur um zu schauen, ob das wirklich stinkt.
Als erstes sind wir zu einer Tropfsteinhöhle gefahren, die wirklich gigantisch war. Normalerweise macht man so eine Adventuretour, wo man auch etwas durch die Gegend klettern muss, aber wegen Corona ging das nicht. Deswegen haben wir nur die Standardtour gemacht, wo man durch den vorderen Teil, wo man noch nicht klettert, läuft.
Anschließend ging es in unsere Unterkunft. Die war direkt an einem See, in den man ab und zu Hippos sehen und hören konnte. Außerdem sind auch auf dem Gelände immer mal Antilopen vorbei spaziert. Dazu gab es einen ganzen Haufen lästiger Insekten. In der Unterkunft gab es so kleine Häuser mit jeweils zwei Zimmern und einem Bad in der Mitte. Maria und ich haben uns das eine Zimmer geteilt und Sam (unser neuer Volunteer) und ein andere Typ waren in dem anderen Raum. Die Wände und das Dach, waren aus Zeltplanen, aber die Türen und die Betten oder das Bad waren ganz normal. War irgendwie schon eine lustige Mischung. Und wir hatten draußen eine kleine Terasse, von der man den Sonnenuntergang richtig schön anschauen konnte. Maria und ich haben uns ein bisschen wie ein altes Ehepaar gefühlt.
Anschließend waren wir etwas Essen und wurden von John, Rachels Freund eingeladen. Vielen Dank nochmal :), ich weiß dass du das hier liest. Wir hatten so einen fancy Salat, der auf einem Holzbrett serviert wurde und als Nachtisch gab es ein richtig großes Stück Torte, was wir uns geteilt haben.
